This absolute beaut Jodene, had us join a C25k programme with Coastal Striders last May. Since then we have run our 1st half marathon, in the crapiest of weather too, rainy/windy, it was tough, but we did it and have just kept on running ever since.
On or around the 18th January this year I found myself being swept away with a crazy idea to run a marathon and Jo of course was game!!
I've never even thought about doing a marathon as it seems absolutely huge. How does anyone run for 26.2 miles?!
But you see I'm surrounded by the best, most encouraging people with the craziest ideas and so when this plan was put to me, my impulsiveness had signed me up before my sensibility had even got a look in!
So on Saturday 20th April, which is just a month away now, Jo and I will be heading into London to run a marathon with a small group of amazing, crazy running buddies.
This is a completely unofficial rouge event, which is exactly how I like things. We will be starting at the London marathon official finish line at midnight and running the course back to front!! We will follow the official London marathon route through the night into the early hours, watching the sunrise over the city and we must finish before the actual Official London marathon kicks off Sunday morning!!
In the 8 weeks or so of training for this, I've already completed a staggering 150 miles of accumulated running with my furthest singular distance being 16 miles. This weekend we are aiming for an 18-20 mile run, before we begin to taper back down ready for the big day. I don't even know how I'm doing this!!
Anyway we would really like to try and raise some money for doing this amazingly challenging ridiculous run.
And couldn't think of a better cause than our husband's band, The SuperMicks.
They are incredible musicians and we are so proud of them for how much they have achieved over the last 2 years. They work so hard, so many hours rehersing and gigging and plugging away, to grow their followers and pursue their dreams. In 2yrs they've managed to finance two singles, released to major platforms and they have a 4 song EP in progress but not finished.
They desperately want to record and produce an album but it is so incredibly expensive. It runs into thousands for studio time and production costs.
I know money is tight for many right now, but if anyone could spare even £1 or a few quid towards this fundraiser Jo and I would be so chuffed, that this crazy run we are doing, might help the band towards getting their music professionally mastered and out there for people to enjoy.
