On Sunday, September 21st, 2025, my sister Shannon and her husband KC Suitsev lost their home in a devastating fire in Lebanon, Oregon. The flames started in the garage and spread so quickly that their entire house and both of their cars were destroyed before anything could be saved.
Shannon, KC, and their children — Bryce, Taylor, and Russell — all made it out safely. Their daughter Kylah, who lives outside the home, has been with them since the fire to help however she can. Their pets — Percy and Lady (the dogs), a Russian tortoise, a bearded dragon, and most of their cats — were rescued. Heartbreakingly, one beloved cat, Stanley, did not survive.
The family escaped with nothing but each other and the clothes they were wearing. The Red Cross provided a night in a hotel, but beyond that, their situation is uncertain. Insurance will eventually help, but that process takes time, and in the meantime they need help to cover the basics:
- A safe place to stay until long-term housing is arranged
- Food, clothing, and daily essentials
- Transportation to work and school, since both cars were lost
- Care for the pets that also survived this tragedy
- Replacing important items and documents
This family means the world to me. Shannon is my little sister, but she’s also been through so much with me that I can't even express it. Seeing her and KC build a family full of great kids has been a joy for me and Wendee. Watching her, KC, and the kids stand outside their home with nothing but each other has been one of the most heart crushing moments I have ever experienced. I want so badly to help them but we cannot do it alone.
They are strong, but the road ahead is going to be hard, and they shouldn’t have to face it alone.
If you’re able to give, every donation, no matter the size, will go directly toward helping the Suitsev family take their next steps forward. If you can’t donate, simply sharing this fundraiser is a huge help.
Thank you for showing Shannon, KC, and the kids that their community is behind them in this time of need.
