On Thursday, January 22nd, Jennifer and David Stegman experienced every family’s worst nightmare when their home caught fire and burned to the ground.
Jennifer, David, their daughter, and their two dogs were inside the home when the fire broke out. Thankfully, they were able to escape—but tragically, one of their beloved dogs was unable to get out and was lost in the fire. The family is heartbroken and grieving this loss, on top of the shock of losing their home and nearly everything they own.
The Stegman's truly lost everything—their home, clothing, furniture, personal belongings, keepsakes, and a sense of normalcy that will take time to rebuild.
While they do have insurance, as many people know, insurance does not cover everything. There are significant gaps—temporary housing, replacing essential items, uncovered costs, and the countless expenses that come in the aftermath of a disaster like this.
David co-owns and runs Seattle Jiu Jitsu Academy, where he has spent years mentoring students, building confidence in others, and creating a welcoming, disciplined community. Jennifer and David are pillars of their community—always showing up for others, giving their time, energy, and support without hesitation. Now, they are the ones who need help.
This fundraiser is to help the Stegman family:
Cover immediate living expenses
Replace essential belongings
Address costs not covered by insurance
Begin the long process of rebuilding their lives
No amount is too small. Every donation, share, and message of support helps remind this family that they are not alone.
Thank you for standing with our friends during this incredibly difficult time.
