Hello friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers, My name is Kevin Starnes, and I’m reaching out with a heavy heart to ask for your support during a particularly challenging time for my family. My wife, Jennifer, and I are blessed with four wonderful children, two of whom are school-aged. We are a close-knit family, but the past few months have tested us in ways we never imagined. Recent Challenges Right before Christmas, our primary vehicle, a Chevy Traverse, broke down and required a completely new coolant system. This unexpected expense set us back significantly, but we managed to address it, thinking we had solved the problem. Unfortunately, the Traverse has broken down again, this time needing a new power steering pump. Reliable transportation is critical for our family, especially with school-aged children and a busy household. Adding to these difficulties, Jennifer recently underwent heart procedures and had to spend time in the hospital. This required her to take a minimum of two weeks off from work to recover. While her health is our top priority, her time away from work has further strained our financial situation. To make matters more challenging, our health insurance will not fully cover the costs of her procedures and hospital visit, leaving us with significant out-of-pocket medical expenses. My Employment Situation As for me, I have been out of work for the past year. My previous job was incompatible with the demands of caring for our youngest son, who is four years old and on the autism spectrum. Balancing work with the care he needs has been incredibly difficult, and despite sending out hundreds of resumes over the past year, I have not yet been able to secure a new position in this competitive job market. Why We Need Your Help We are doing everything we can to stay afloat, but the combination of unexpected vehicle repairs, medical bills, and reduced income has put us in a precarious position.
