Help the Star Streakers compete at DI Globals 2024!

Hello! This is The Star Streakers!

Recently, we placed 2nd in the Destination Imagination tournament. Because we got 2nd, we were invited to go to global finals. DI is an educational/ STEAM program for students K-12 to show off their skills using the creative process. Our team of 7 (Will, Peter, Calvin, Nina, Charlotte, Sarina, and Eli) has been together for 3 years. This year, we made a story about a flying pig and 2 boys in which the pig steals their jump rope, and they take action by climbing on the pig to get it back. In this challenge we also had to make a launch mechanism to launch a beanbag as far and as accurately as possible. Thank you for your time, and we hope you can donate to help us go to globals.

What is DI? Destination Imagination (DI) is a non profit, volunteer-led cause driven organization.

Its purpose is to inspire and equip students to become the next generation of innovators and leaders. Annually, DI offers seven new standards-based challenges in STEAM (science, technology, engineering, art, and math), improv, visual arts, service learning and early learning. Each challenge enables student teams to learn and experience the creative process from imagination to innovation. Students participate in DI in 48 states and 30 countries! The program boasts more than one million alumni and 38,000 volunteers worldwide. Students who participate in DI strengthen team building skills, form lifelong friendships, and develop their self esteem, and creative problem solving skills.

Over the past six months, our team met weekly to create a technical device that could be configured in two different ways to launch a bean bag as far and accurately as possible. The team incorporated a script and used their creativity to create props and costumes and build a story around our technical device. We are very proud of everything we have accomplished this season and can't wait for Globals in Kansas City, MO!

The registration fee for the tournament is $5500 per team. Our town wide Bedford MADI Chapter will cover a portion of the cost for us, and we are looking to raise money to help cover the remaining fee plus defray the costs of travel and the DI global t-shirts and pins, which are both important parts of the global tournament culture.
