West Warwick, RI - Spooner Family house fire

On Thanksgiving evening, a time where most of us are spending time with family reflecting on what we are thankful for, the Spooner family tragically lost their home to an electrical fire. The fire rapidly spread throughout the home, with the family only sustaining minor injuries before reaching safety.

 

Although my brother, his wife, and their two young boys are safe, their two beloved cats, Looney and Gizmo, unfortunately perished in the fire. While the family is physically safe, they are working through the traumatic emotional fallout that comes with the sudden loss of their pets, personal belongings and home that they adored. The family is in shock and are working around the clock to try and salvage their personal belongings.

 

Their ability to carry on during this time of tremendous shock and sadness is heartwarming and I'm amazed by their strength. I am also incredibly grateful to the West Warwick Rhode Island firefighters who quickly extinguished the fire and to the local police and EMS who assisted to ensure the safety of all.

 

Any support you can provide is appreciated. My brother will need to rebuild his home but is looking for assistance with the immediate costs such as cleanup, any interim housing, clothing, and personal hygiene items. With supply chains strained, it will likely be several months before any normalcy will be restored in their lives, so your donations will be critical in helping them get through this Holiday season.
