Caden Sorrell passed away unexpectedly at the age of 13 on 8/30/2026, after suffering a sudden cardiac arrest during football practice at his middle school. Despite every effort by his amazing medical team at Cone hospital, including ECMO, a heart pump, and additional intensive treatment, the damage was too severe and they were unable to save his life. Making this even more heartbreaking, Caden leaves behind a twin brother, as well as three additional siblings who are now facing grief no family should ever have to endure.

As the Sorrell family tries to navigate the overwhelming grief of losing their bright, loving young boy far too soon, Caden’s parents are also facing an avalanche of unexpected expenses. The funds raised here will help with funeral expenses and memorial costs as they honor Caden’s life and say goodbye. Support will also help cover medical testing for his four siblings and ease the burden of lost wages so the family can step away from work and focus on each other during this painful time. Doctors believe Caden’s death may have been caused by an underlying genetic condition, and his siblings now need to be evaluated by specialists. That means travel, medical expenses, and missed work on top of everything they are already carrying.
