Update from Lisa: It is with a heavy heart that I am having to post this. Allen lost his battle to cancer tonight.  If you could please keep Andrew, Ashley and myself, in your thoughts and prayers as we make arrangements, and get through the next few days/months and holidays. We love you all, and appreciate everyone of you.

Allen was moved home on Thursday and is receiving Hospice.  He is unable to respond to calls, text or messages. Lisa or the kids will get with you when they are able.  His wish was to come home, so they made that happen.  Lisa have taken a leave of absence from work to be there with him.  Thank you for your continued, love, prayers, support it means a lot to them.  Love you all.

Why is it the worst always happens to the best? Allen is an amazing human. I've known him since I was born basically. I grew up down the street from his family and his daughter is my best friend. My dad and Allen served together on the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department (PCVFD), and my mom and his wife, Lisa on the PCVFD Women's Auxiliary. Him and his family are my second family, which is why it pains me so much to have to write this.

Allen spent a good portion of his life serving the residents of Parker City, Indiana as a member of the Parker City Volunteer Fire Department and even spent 10 of those years as the Fire Chief before his retirement in 2009. He is a devoted family man having been married for 33 years and counting and raising 2 dedicated and hard working children. He would do everything in his power to help those he cares about. He has the biggest heart of anyone I know. Allen's happiest moments I would have to say would be whenever he his wearing his Pawpaw hat. He has 2 grandchildren that he absolutely adores and that adores him. His grandson is through and through a Pawpaw's boy and always asks about going to Mawmaw and Pawpaw's house.

So, again I ask, why does the worst always happens to the best? For the past year, Allen has been stubbornly fighting Stage 4 cancer, and it seems like that battle is nearing it's end as his prognosis, sadly, isn't looking good. This is why I'm taking it upon myself to ask for your assistance with medical and funeral expenses, especially since during this time, Lisa and her family have had to take time off from work in order to help care for the beloved patriarch of their family. This family has always done everything possible for me and in this time of need, I want more than anything to do everything I can for them.
