Help the Skaggs family recover after Hurricane Helene

And then there was Helene... My sister Carrie, husband Jay, and their teenage son moved into their new home in Apollo Beach, FL less than 3 weeks ago. A home they couldn't wait to move into; a home on the water. While they still have a structure, they lost nearly everything with the storm. Helene caused devastation throughout their neighborhood and flooded their home with almost three feet of water throughout. Virtually all of their belongings, including two cars (three if you count a work vehicle), appliances, furniture, and personal belongings, now need to be thrown away, much of which has never even been unpacked.

With all of the water damage, Carrie's home is currently uninhabitable. They are now faced with the overwhelming task of starting over while simultaneously dealing with insurance adjusters, restoration companies, and managing jobs and school. While some of their loss will be covered by insurance, much will not.

For those of you that know my sister, she is always the first to lend a hand, support those in need, and put everyone else's needs ahead of her own. Now it is our turn to give back and help her and her family get back on their feet. Any donation will be greatly appreciated.

When I told my sister that I wanted to do this for her and those that know her want to help, her first response was, "There are so many others far worse off than we are." Always thinking of everyone else! With that in mind, should their insurance cover more than they expect, she asked that I let everyone know that she will redirect excess funds raised through this GoFundMe to others devastated by Hurricane Helene.
