Help the Simon Family Rebuild After Devastating House Fire
Dear Friends and Supporters,
Tragedy struck our family in Huntsville, Alabama, when our home was nearly completely destroyed in a devastating fire. The fire claimed the life of our beloved family dog, Koda, and wiped out my brother Tavares’ prized reptile collection, valued at thousands of dollars. This heartbreaking loss has left our family of five without a home, with no clear path forward.
This house holds a deep and personal significance for me. I grew up in this home and spent most of my summers there learning how to fish, wrestle, and create lifelong memories with my family. For 25 years, it’s been more than just a building—it’s been a cornerstone of my childhood and a vital part of our family’s story. Seeing it in ruins is absolutely devastating.
My nephews, Yanik and Kiyan, who are nationally ranked wrestlers and set to join Davidson College’s Division 1 wrestling program this fall, lost all of their wrestling trophies, gear, and training equipment in the fire. These young men have worked tirelessly to achieve their dreams, and the emotional toll of losing these hard-earned symbols of their success is immense for all of us.
The cause of the fire is still unknown, but the damage is so extensive that the house is uninhabitable for the foreseeable future. To make matters worse, we believe there is no insurance coverage for the home, meaning all repairs and rebuilding costs will have to come out of pocket.
This tragic event couldn’t have come at a worse time, with winter’s cold temperatures adding to the challenges of being displaced. We are humbly asking for your help to get through this unimaginable situation.
Your donations will go toward:
• Temporary housing and immediate living expenses
• Rebuilding and repairing the home
• Replacing lost belongings and essentials
Every contribution, big or small, makes a difference and brings us closer to rebuilding our lives. If you can’t donate, please consider sharing this campaign with others. Your support means the world to us during this incredibly difficult time.
Thank you for helping the Simon family get back on their feet.
With gratitude,
Khalil Simon
