Hi my name Anita Pyclik-Piccoli & two years ago I had a beautiful opportunity to visit Nepal while doing both the Everest Base Camp Trek and climbing Island Peak. My journey would not have been possible if it wasn't for the meticulous guidance of my guide Budhi, my porter, Buban and my climbing Sherpa, Pemba. But these men are just a few of the many people who make climbing Nepal's beautiful peaks a safe reality.
The past year had many of us witness and undergo the harrowing affects of the global pandemic, COVID-19. The Nepalese people in particular have been struck most tragically, as their only source of income derives directly from tourism. Each tour operator, guide, Sherpa and porter rely heavily on the current season's treks and climbs to support their families for the months that follow. Presently, this Nepalese community have endured 3 trekking seasons with zero tourists. In the midst of the Global Pandemic, Nepal has been receiving little to no support from its' government. More so, with people enduring a second wave and hospitals facing extreme shortages of oxygen and supplies, the communities in Nepal have found themselves in complete despair.
My main goal is to assist by collecting funds that would aid in the purchase of medical supplies, food and basic necessities as well as provide immediate support and relief to the families of the Guide and Sherpa communities. I will collect all funds that will be passed onto Amir, from Everest Thrill , the tour operator that I personally used in Nepal in 2019. Amir is one of the most kind hearted and generous souls I have met and he will ensure that all funds will be properly distributed to not only the sherpa and guide communities of Nepal, but also to the 'United creative society of Nepal' that offers care and support to Nepalese orphans.
Thank you all for your support and kindness.
