What is the value of education? Real education - like hands-on practical problem-solving education. Education that gives you an opportunity to think creatively, apply skills, and build life-long friendships. Can you even put a value on that?

We are The SHARKS (super human awesome rad kids), a team of 6 middle schoolers (Ethan, Sully, Hudson, Abby, Trevor and Drew) from Calvert County, that are participating in Destination Imagination - a nationwide STEM competition. Our challenge was to build a story with a wishful scene, as well as two devices to assemble and disassemble/move a tower of stacked items into a target zone. We made an electromagnetic crane to build the leaning Tower of Pizza and a Trojan horse to steal the stacked pizza boxes. Our Greeks wished for Pizza and our Romans wished for Friends. In the end Dionysus helped us come together for a friendship pizza party!

While this experience has been the biggest win for our team, we also placed 2nd at the Terrapin Regional Tournament. This means we have the opportunity to participate at the State level and hopefully the 2025 Globals tournament in Kansas City, MO. Imagine how meaningful this educational opportunity will be for our team! Imagine how amazing you would feel knowing you supported and encouraged us!

Although we're trying to get to Kansas City, it's about the journey, not the Destination. Will you support us in this journey?
