Help the Shafer Family in their time of need!
On August 2nd, Kendra Shafer was unexpectedly admitted to Miami Valley hospital where she was diagnosed with double pneumonia as a complication of COVID-19. After struggling to maintain her blood-oxygen levels through her lungs, on August 17th she transferred to OSU main campus to receive extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) and ventilator intubation.
Since hospitalization, Kendra’s family has not received the income that her family depends on from her part time job at Universal 1 Credit Union. Her husband Josh, continues to work as a teacher at Englewood Hills Elementary, while caring for their two young boys, Finlee (5) and Deklan (3).
Despite Josh’s demands at home and work, he has been commuting 2hrs per day from Tipp City to OSU to visit her. Josh's mom, Debbie, has stopped working to be able to stay with them and help take care of the kids. Only limited family have been able to visit her in her mildly sedated state during strict visiting hours and through a myriad of COVID protections. After never spending a night away from their mother, the boys have yet to see her since August 2nd. This is going to be a long road to recovery and her family can use all the support and prayers we can give them.
Please pray for Kendra and the Shafer family, and consider donating to help with medical bills, loss of income, and gas money.
