Hello again everyone! Unfortunately we are still in a very similar situation we were before. Additionally we have gone to numerous appointments and have plenty coming up in the future. Right now KaraLynn is still battling her health and her husband is still at home with her. She currently has a monitor on for the next month and will see an electrophysiologist in March. There is no time frame on how long she will need assistance. Her husband has been taking care of her and their son during this time. Their son Drake is still having health issues as described before. He is to take the next 3 months to work on weight. His road to recovery, if even possible, is a very long one. With all of that going, they are still struggling to keep up. Hello, my name is Kara Lynn Schwendy. I am a 40 year old, married mother of 5 amazing children. This past year and a half has been exceptionally hard on our family. To start, we have been waiting on an emergency heart surgery for just over a year now. It was a very long battle with insurance where we were repeatedly denied, even though this is a life threatening situation. We appealed numerous times and tried repeatedly to get the insurance to help and they would not budge on their decision. Since then we have had numerous doctors appointments and ER visits, with my issues arising with myself and my health. We had to completely switch carriers and start all over. For those of you unfamiliar with my health history. I was born with two chromosomal genetic diseases, Ehlers Danols and Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease. I also suffer from Cyclic vomiting syndrome(there are days I get sick 60-120 times per day with each episode, this condition is debilitating)mitral valve prolapse, congestive heart failure, seizures, fibromyalgia, I have 7 extra parts in my heart, and have had a couple of heart attacks as well as a few strokes, the list goes on. I am completely disabled at this point and have been for the majority of my life . My husband, Brad, was our sole provider. He has had to take a leave of absence from work due to work related issues and our health issues here at home. He is also suffering from severe anxiety and PTSD. This is an unpaid leave. Myself alone, has completely drained my family. We are struggling to make ends meet, but we are doing everything we can. We have applied for every kind of help. Unfortunately, this past few weeks has brought to our attention another issue within our family. Our son, Drake, has now fallen ill. This is something we did not see coming. He is 17 years old and he attends school here at HHS. This year will be starting different for our son. This past week we were informed that he too has heart issues. This is another blow we weren’t expecting. He has right atrial enlargement. We are and already have appointments set up for him with more in the future. Drake is struggling everyday with extreme exhaustion, chest discomfort and so on. He also has the hyper mobile type of Ehlers Danols and is also exhibiting signs of cyclic vomitting.
