Help the Schimmings - Medical & Funeral Expenses

Donation protected
On Sunday morning, January 1st, Jan and George Schimming and their 52-year-old disabled son, Craig Schimming, were on their way to church when a man who was drunk and high on meth slammed into their vehicle at approximately 110 miles per hour.

Craig was in the front passenger seat and Jan was in the back seat, while George was driving. Craig was killed and Jan suffered a severe spinal cord injury and has been in the hospital on life-support. It is looking more and more like she will be paralyzed from the neck down. George was also in the hospital for a few days but thankfully has been released.

During times like these, we can shake our fists at heaven and scream into the darkness, or we can choose to be part of the light. Let's choose to be part of the light and show the Schimmings our love.

According to the Christopher and Dana Reeve Foundation, victims with quadriplegia (which is also called tetraplegia) tend to pay about a million dollars for medical care in the first year after their injury and almost $200,000 per year for care after that. And those costs are only an average. Victims with especially severe injuries that require complex treatment may face even greater costs. (Quote from: https://www.amalaw.com/real-lifetime-costs-living-paralysis/) The Schimming's insurance may cover some of this cost. However, the other driver had no insurance--he didn't even have a driver's license.

As stated, this fundraiser is a way that we can help lift some of that burden, but also please be in prayer for the family as they navigate these troubling times. Even as I write this, Jan is in a second spinal surgery.
