Help the Sawan family from Gaza

Hello,

We are a family, Mazen and Lina my parents and me the son Hassan, Raghad and Yasmin huddled together in our small home in Gaza, the walls shaking from the nearby explosions. My mother, already weak from her ongoing cancer treatments .The air was thick with dust and fear, and amidst the chaos.

We had to get out of our house and leave it so that it would not fall on our heads and we went to our relatives somewhere else. And after living displaced for many months, we managed to escape to Egypt. But our father remains all alone in Gaza.

We write to you in desperation, as the ground shakes beneath us and the skies burn above. My father, like so many others in Gaza, he is trapped. The war is all around us, with no safe place left to hide. Our mother is gravely ill, battling cancer, and without the treatment she desperately needs, her condition is worsening every day.

My mother wants the cost of cancer treatment of about ten thousand dollars a year and you also know that we are now in a war, that is, there is no work and there is no income. Everything is gone in the blink of an eye, something that no one can imagine, but this is the reality where we were and where are we now.

We ask the world to hear our voices. We are pleading for help, for a way out of this nightmare. We know that we are not the only family suffering, but each life here is precious, and we cannot bear to lose our mother to both war and illness. We need your support—not just financially, though every bit helps—but for a real way to evacuate our father and others like us. We need safety, a place where the sounds of bombs are replaced by the sounds of life.

Please, do not turn away from Gaza. Our lives, and so many others, depend on your compassion and action. We pray that someone, somewhere, will hear us and help us escape this war before it’s too late.
