The Santos family moved to the United States from Brazil about two years ago, hoping to build a better life for themselves and their two young daughters. My son, who is serving a mission in Ft Lauderdale, Florida, met them in January through Facebook. At the time, they were planning to move to Utah, which they did a month later. We met them in person when we invited them to our Sunday family dinner. They are a sweet, sincere family trying to do what they feel is best for their family at this time. Since arriving, they have worked hard to make ends meet, but things here have become very difficult. They haven't been able to find stable work or keep up with their apartment rent, and their car broke down, so they are currently without transportation.
Despite their best efforts, they are now facing eviction from their apartment. With no way to support themselves here, the Santos family is deciding if they must return to Brazil, where they have a support system and a way to provide for their family.
Any amount donated would be deeply appreciated and would be used to purchase the much-needed plane tickets for the four of them! If by some miraculous event they are able to stay the money would be used to help them get on their feet financially. They have a court date on May 1st which will determine the future.
