The studio needs your help to continue building a creative environment for students to learn the tactile skills of Fiber Arts and Crafting. The funds will help support the programs that include the purchase of equipment and materials for the classes, monthly operating expenses, advertising that includes completing the setup of a new website, and purchasing more inventory.
Studio Purpose:
To give the community a creative space to learn tactile skills that have been passed down for many generations, teach children to use their imagination away from the fast pace of the electronic environment, make new friends and share with each other. The studio is available for private parties and group rentals where we welcome the community to gather and share their love of fiber arts & crafts. We are “Always Happy To Help You Be Creative”!

About The Studio:
The studio, founded in October 2023 by Judy L. Hersh of JLH Handwoven Designs, offers an array of fiber art classes and more. It is located in the Knolls Plaza Shopping Center, 1405 Kuehner Drive and Katherine Road at the east end of Simi Valley, CA. The area of Santa Susana was founded in 1903 shortly after the Southern Pacific Company built the Santa Susana Depot and is currently called the Santa Susana Knolls or the Simi Knolls. The area was inhabited by the Chumash Indians as early as 500AD. There are several historic sites in the area; the Santa Susana Depot & Museum, Corriganville Park that was a movie ranch where many Western movies were filmed and Rocky Pointe Natural Park, to name a few. In the shopping center is the Old Susana Café, built in the 1960’s.
About Judy:
Judy’s philosophy is the use of natural fibers, sourced from but not limited to, local producers. No type of fiber should go into our landfills so recycle, upcycle and repurpose is an important aspect of Judy’s design process. The studio offers an array of fiber, textiles & trims from estate sales, local guilds, personal stashes and other fiber businesses. There is an inventory of fiber arts & crafts equipment and supplies used in the classes and for purchase.
A small boutique includes Judy’s original designs and designs of the studio’s guest instructors and local artisans. The boutique includes a “Vintage Clothing and Accessories Corner”.
A Message From Judy:
Thank you for taking the time to read about the studio. I am grateful for being able to offer this creative environment to the community. On behalf of myself, the guest instructors and students, your help is very much appreciated!
