Empowering Sri Lankan Orphans for brighter future

You may have heard about the ongoing economic crisis in Sri Lanka that began in 2019. This has affected Sri Lankan households severely, and they are in need of support to overcome the challenges they are facing.

We are In the Coeur, and we want to positively impact the lives of those around the world, and this funding campaign will be one of our first major initiatives to begin helping youth in Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka’s economy took a severe hit in 2019, yet the country was unable to recover from it due to COVID-19. This has left the country in the midst of a food and fuel shortage, which has severely devastated families across the country for 4 years now. As a team of 4, with 2 of Sri Lankan heritage, it has been a goal of ours to find a way to help mitigate the impact this economic crisis has on Sri Lankan communities. A great great great grandfather of ours founded an orphanage during the 1900’s in Jaffna, Sri Lanka. This orphanage is in desperate need of repair to their school’s structure, but are unable to collect this money by themselves. These children have gone months without access to a proper learning environment, but this fundraiser could change that. To help ensure that these students have access to education, their school needs major repairs. Our first goal for this fundraiser would be $4000 to be able to do urgent repairs on the areas of their school that severely require it. Ideally, though, we would be able to secure $20000 to help fully complete the repair of their school.
