The Ross Family – Katie, Jonathan, Savvy and Jack are facing an unimaginable situation and need our help.

Savvy is an amazing 11 year old special needs girl who has battled health issues most of her life, but she has always done so with strength and spirit that truly inspires everyone around her. This summer, she became seriously ill and spent 4 weeks at Children’s of Alabama. Her medical team was still baffled by her symptoms and decided to undergo exploratory surgery to search for more answers.

On October 1st, Savvy’s exploratory surgery took a turn that no family would be prepared for – her surgeons quickly discovered she was in intestinal failure. At first, they didn’t think they could proceed, but after operating for 12 hours, they removed most of her small intestine and tried to salvage as much healthy tissue as they could to give Savvy a fighting chance. Since then, Savvy has undergone multiple surgeries, battling infections and remains hospitalized, fighting every day with the same strength and courage that she has possessed since day one. Her care will now be a lifelong medical challenge. Her recovery is a marathon, not a sprint, she will be in the hospital for the foreseeable future.

Katie has taken a step back from working to stay by Savvy’s side, while Jonathan juggles work and staying home to care for their special needs son, Jack. Between past and current medical bills and preparing for future complex medical needs when the day comes that they can bring her home and be a family again, this Go Fund Me has been created by friends and family to help ease this financial burden on the Ross family so they can focus on what matters most – helping Savvy heal and getting her back to doing to the things she loves.

Every donation, no matter the size, will help the Ross family with current and future hospital expenses and medical needs, specialized medical equipment and care at home, as they hope to prepare for their new normal.
