As much as I wish this wasn’t happening, it is. As much as I want to understand it, I can’t. But I know God has a plan for my family and me.

Kevin, Smays, and I were ready to add another member to our family. Before we found out we were expecting, we also found a lump on my left breast back in July and another one in October.

I started seeing Oncology, and the day of my scheduled MRI, I found out we were expecting. (MRI wasn’t an option anymore.) One morning in October, I felt my left arm heavy and decided to do the whole “self-assessment test.” There was a bigger lump measuring 7mm. The day of the ultrasound, I remember Kevin and Smays waiting for me in the lobby.

I was trying to hold it together for the sake of my joyful son, crying in silence. They recommended to keep following up with my oncologist.

The first thing that came to mind was, what about my baby?! If it’s cancer, how am I supposed to put him/her through treatment?

My world turned 360 real quick. I stared at the sky and said, “God, just take over. Take it all.”

Jeremiah 29:11 is not just a Bible verse. It’s THE Bible verse I’ve carried since 5th grade when a kind teacher taught me that everything is planned by the one and only, God.

November 1, 2025, in the midday, I wasn’t able to make it back to Fort Hood from Lewisville. I had to stop at the BSW-Waco.

I realized I was cramping and started to bleed. That moment I knew, God made a decision. A decision to try to understand, I needed to take care of myself first. BUT WHY? Why harm someone so innocent?!

Karolina Nicole Rodriguez will forever be a part of us.

I pray God gives me the strength to understand and even more strength… every time Smays asks if his baby sister is coming home soon.

Today, the Rodriguez family asks for any donations that you all can help with. Kevin has been doing outside food since he can’t really leave the hospital, Smays is under our mother-in-law's care, and we have had amazing friends help us so much. ♥️

I haven’t been discharged because after my D&C, my lungs weren’t able to breathe on their own. So currently on O2, making baby steps to better myself to come home—healthy and ready to play with Smays and love on Kevin.

Tricare doesn’t cover all expenses at this hospital.

Prayers, donations… anything helps at this point.
