Alan and Adriana and their two young children were recently diagnosed with COVID-19.
In countries like the United States, where not everyone may have access to health insurance, financial help for the coronavirus is desperately needed. Unfortunately they don't have health insurance or any hours at work to cover their sick time off. They are suffering the loss of two incomes and medical bills are pilling up. For people like them who are already sick, paying medical bills has become an additional burden.
Both of them are active members of our community who have always been willing to help others when in need and now its our turn to be there for them.
Alan is an agriculture worker who has been unable to to work for for the last three weeks and wont be released to work for another month due to his delicate health condition. Adriana is a daycare teacher who had been laid off for several months due the pandemic and had finally returned to work but shortly after fell sick.
Hourly workers like them without paid sick time are among the most vulnerable to the negative financial effects of the pandemic. With no way to cover expenses, workers like them will inevitably fall behind on rent and other fixed expenses.
Everything from basics, like food to emergency financial assistance to pay for things like rent is urgently needed. They have experienced lost wages due to illness and quarantine restrictions.
