Help The Robin's Nest Childcare Grow!

The Robin's Nest Childcare center was founded in 2017 by a mom of 3 (now 4), Robbin Stevenson, who was struggling to balance childcare and work. As a preschool teacher, the founder had tried piecing together college and high school student babysitters, as well as experimenting with home daycares. After a harrowing experience where her youngest daughter was left in a car seat all day and the provider's son was seen stomping on his sister's head, the founder had had enough.

Around that same time, there were rallies and marches called "Beavers have Babies Damnit," with people calling for someone to open an affordable, reliable, community-based childcare center. The founder decided to take on that challenge, and thus The Robin's Nest was born. Over the past 7 years, the center has expanded nearly every year to accommodate more children from the community. While the COVID-19 pandemic posed challenges, the center managed to provide childcare for essential workers and retain most of its staff.

Finding a building large enough to house the growing program has been an ongoing challenge, but the center has now secured a new location over 8,000 square feet in size, right across the parking lot from its original building. This will allow the center to consolidate its operations into one larger facility. Some of the amenities the staff are excited about include, multiple bathrooms, a staff break room, more storage, larger work stations, on-site laundry, and larger classrooms!

In addition to the expanded physical space, The Robin's Nest is partnering with LBLESD Dixie school and Early Intervention to offer low-cost preschool programming starting next school year on Peoria Road.

While not a nonprofit, The Robin's Nest is a woman-owned and women-run operation that provides livable wages and hires a diverse staff. The center strives to collaborate with the community to bring more high-quality, affordable childcare to the region.

If you would like to support The Robin's Nest, the center welcomes donations. Contributions will support essential upgrades, such as putting up and tearing down walls within the building, fencing in our new, larger playground, and other crucial enhancements.
