3/26 update
Thank you all so much for your continued support—your donations, prayers, and shares have truly lifted this family during such a heartbreaking time.
The family is staying strong and trying to stay hopeful, but the emotional weight of everything is setting in. They are still unsure about what comes next, especially around housing and rebuilding their lives from the ground up.
Health Update:
Due to smoke exposure from the fire, everyone had to get lung X-rays. Sharon and Z (5-year-old) are going in tomorrow for additional follow-ups. Please keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they continue to navigate both the emotional and physical toll this has taken.
Please continue to share this GoFundMe so we can help meet their immediate and long-term needs. Every donation and every share makes a difference.
Thank you for standing with them during this time.
Help Sharon Rebuild After Losing Everything in a House Fire
Hi, my name is Ashley Bayliss-White, and I’m the Director of Foster Champs of Washington. Today, I’m asking for your help on behalf of someone who has spent nearly two decades helping others.
Sharon Rimested has been with Foster Champs since the beginning—over 17 years. She’s opened her heart and her home to many children through foster and kinship care. When kids had nowhere else to go, Sharon said yes. She’s been a steady light for so many—always giving, never asking for anything in return.
But last night, everything changed.
An electrical fire tore through Sharon’s home in Auburn, WA. In just moments, everything was gone. The house is unlivable. Their belongings—gone. Their two beloved pets—lost in the fire. Four adults and two children were left standing outside with only what they were wearing. They have a place to stay for one night. After that, they don’t know where they’ll go.
Sharon has been out of work for the past two years due to personal and health struggles, and like so many families, they didn’t have insurance. This isn’t just about rebuilding a house—it’s about helping a family survive the unthinkable.
I’m starting this GoFundMe to help Sharon and her family get through the next few weeks—covering temporary housing, clothes, food, and hopefully, a fresh start. Anything you can give will help carry them through this heartbreak.
If you can’t donate, please share this with your community. Let’s show Sharon, after all she’s done for others, that she is not alone now.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
