Help the Riddle Family Rebuild from Hurricane Helene
Donation protected
Our very dear friends in Asheville have lost their home and their belongings in this devastating storm. Laura, Richard, and Essy have been close friends and a wonderful support for us for the last 6 years that we have known them. Essy is one of the girls' closest friends. We are heartbroken for this family and trying to do whatever we can to support them. Please read this message that they wanted to share below.
Hi friends and family,
As you know, Tropical Storm Helene ravaged through our region, leaving chaos and destruction behind. As is the case for many others, our home was essentially destroyed. Two large oak trees were uprooted and thrown into our house during the storm winds. We feel so grateful to be safe! After the collision impact, we were able to make it out to a generous neighbor's house to ride out the rest of the storm. Coming out into the neighborhood when the storm was over was harrowing and felt like stepping into complete devastation. The impact of loss was profound. Amidst debris, collapsed houses, and shock, we gathered with the community to console and connect. We worked together to clear paths through the debris for car passage. Several hours later, we reached the end of the neighborhood and then found lodging and food. A day later, we are processing this event and continuing to see the great effects of loss surrounding us.
Many of you have asked for ways to help, and we are so very grateful for your love. We would love your continued prayers. We will also accept financial support of any kind. We are hopeful that our home insurance will help with a good portion of repairs, though we know the need will be great as we rebuild.
We are deeply thankful to have such a far-reaching and caring community. Thank you for your support!
With gratitude,
Laura, Richard & Essy
