Help The Rheingans Family Rebuild Their Home
Donation protected
Last week, like many of us, our friends Tom and Amy lost power to their home in one of the most severe wind and ice storms Portland has seen in recent memory. They walked with their kids to their neighborhood church, where the power was still on (and they are both on staff), to make lunch. While they were having lunch, their home was destroyed by a falling tree. It’s incredible that they were not there in those few minutes, and we are so grateful they are safe.
The rebuilding of their home will be a long and expensive process. While they have insurance, they need to find a long-term rental (at least 1 year) on the west side (any leads are welcome), and have many unexpected short-term expenses, including an additional tree and some debris removal not covered by insurance, short-term furniture needs, rent, etc.
Tom and Amy have given to so many of us through their gifts of teaching and music. Their lessons and music programs have encouraged hundreds (probably thousands) of kids to be their best selves, building not only musical talent and appreciation, but respect for others, self-awareness, and self-confidence. They are the kind of people who make our community a better place.
Let’s do what we can to repay their lifelong expressions of kindness and generosity by helping them in this time of crisis. They are deeply grateful for your consideration.
