JANUARY 8, 2026: Thank you all for the incredible outpouring of love, prayers, and support for Jacob. Your generosity has been such a blessing and has helped this family stay focused on what matters most — fighting this disease together.
After months of treatment, Jacob was matched with an anonymous bone marrow donor and underwent his transplant just before Christmas. He is stable now but required to remain at City of Hope for 100 days post-transplant as part of his recovery.
It is with a heavy but hopeful heart that we share a new development: On January 4th, 2026, Teresa’s daughter, Angelina, 20 years old, was also diagnosed with AML. (Leukemia) She is currently in the ICU at City of Hope, with blood-filled lungs, and critically low platelet & blood counts. She has been placed in a medically induced coma and is being closely monitored by her medical team. Her condition came on suddenly while she was visiting her brother & mom in LA, presenting with chest pain, difficulty breathing, vomiting blood and significant bruising.
This family is now facing an unimaginable nightmare — TWO children fighting for their lives at the same time. They need every prayer, thought, and word of encouragement possible. We are asking for continued prayer, strength, and — if you are able — financial help to support both Jacob’s ongoing treatment and Angelina’s emerging medical needs.
This GoFundMe has already been helping with Jacob’s medical expenses and treatments, and as Angelina’s care continues, ongoing financial support will be a tremendous help with mounting costs, travel, time away from work, and other urgent needs.
Your generous donation will be used for:
-Hospital bills, medications, and medical expenses
-Travel costs to be with both Jacob and Angelina at City of Hope
-Hotel stays so family can remain close during critical care
-Basic necessities for Jacob’s 1-year-old daughter
️-Daily family meals during long hospital days and sleepless nights
Every dollar, every prayer, every share matters more than you know. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with this family during the hardest season of their lives.

APRIL 16, 2025: Our world changed overnight when our son, Jacob Renteria, was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia. At just 21 years old, Jacob is now facing the toughest battle of his life. What makes this even more heartbreaking is that he’s also a brand new father to a beautiful 3-month-old baby girl, Gabriela.
This diagnosis came without warning and has brought with it overwhelming emotional and financial stress. Along with the shock and sadness, our family is now facing unexpected medical expenses, Jacob's lost wages due to being hospitalized and not able to work, and the ongoing challenge of trying to support Jacob and his young family through this difficult season.
Despite the pain and uncertainty, Jacob remains strong, hopeful, and motivated by his love for his daughter and being the best father and partner he can be. His greatest wish is to recover fully and come home to hold his little girl in his arms again.
We are reaching out to our community, family, friends, and kind-hearted strangers for help. If you feel led to contribute, any amount will make a difference.
Your support will help cover:
Medical expenses
Travel costs to be with Jacob
Hotel stays for the family
Basic necessities for Jacob and his family
Family meals
Gas gift cards, grocery gift cards, Target gift cards (anything helps)
Your generosity will give Jacob the space to focus on healing without the heavy burden of finances. More than anything, we ask for your prayers, love, and support as we walk this journey together.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for standing with Jacob and our family.
