The newest update on Aubry is she will be having surgery. Please, please pray for her as she faces this new difficulty, she’s got a long road ahead of her. Please also pray for her family as they also have a long road ahead of them.
My name is Samantha and I am creating this for a family who is also my best friends. If you know Amy Matt and Aubry Rennie you know that they would do anything for anyone. Aubry has had a difficult summer. Her ailment began Memorial Day Weekend with Amy taking her to Lowville ER for vomiting. They transferred her to Golisano in Syracuse where they thought she had a partial bowel obstruction and they gave her a course of treatment that they thought would help her and sent her home. But it did not. The vomiting continued. With the vomiting came weight loss, dehydration and back pain but doctors were not convinced there was really anything wrong. June went by. She finished the school year and eagerly waited for LaLa to come get her and take her back to South Carolina for a month. Concerned that she shouldn't go to SC, we took her to see her pediatrician who ordered some testing to be done before we left but encouraged her to go to SC. The pediatricians testing discovered a compression fracture in her middle vertebrae and again some sort of possible bowel obstruction. But we headed to SC. The vomiting continued daily and the weight loss more significant; about 40 pounds in just over a month. Aubry ended up in the ER in SC where they discovered her potassium was extremely low and her liver enzymes were not normal. Back to NY we came. Her pediatrician made contact with a pediatric gastroenterologist at Golisano in Syracuse who agreed she needed to be admitted for further testing. Their testing confirmed she had some sort of obstruction in her upper intestines. Procedures were scheduled and completed and it was discovered she was filled with thousands of polyps throughout her intestinal tract and they removed 11. She seemed to be doing better after this so they sent her home. Things seemed better for a couple of weeks but then more vomiting began and additional weight loss so back to doctor more testing. It was discovered she had 2 large polyps causing a blockage in her intestines. She was able to get through one day of the new school year but back to the ER with a transfer to Golisano in Syracuse. They are currently waiting to be transferred to Golisano in Rochester for her to have another different procedure with a new G.I. specialist out there. She is missing her friends and all their new adventures and she is ready to feel better.
