My name is Katie, and I have taught Lauren’s son since he was in 5th grade. After many years of trauma and setbacks, we are so proud to say he will be graduating this year! Lauren and her significant other, Thad, have given everything they have to ensure their kids have a safe place to come home to, but early this morning, Lauren woke up to a man honking his horn and the words, “Your house is on fire.” A fire that originated in the carport due to a wiring issue, quickly took over the home as the family slept.

The Register/Bateman family experienced an unimaginable tragedy—a fire tore through their home, leaving them with nothing. In addition to losing their home, family car, and belongings, they also suffered the heartbreaking loss of their three pets, who were cherished members of their family and often emotional support for Lauren and her kids.

This sudden and devastating event has left them displaced, grieving, and in urgent need of support as they begin the long journey of healing and rebuilding. We are asking our community to come together and help this sweet family get back on their feet.
