Help the Rachko Family After Tragic Accident
Donation protected
We are reaching out to ask for your help in supporting one of our beloved Scranton families during an unimaginably difficult time.
Nora Rachko is a bright and joyful 10-year-old student at McNichols Plaza. Known for her infectious laughter and witty sense of humor, Nora brings joy to everyone around her. She is a talented artist, a natural performer, and a dedicated honor roll student. She’s a proud member of the school’s morning announcement team and has starred in local plays through CAPAA and other performing arts organizations. Nora is a role model to her peers, a light in her classroom, and a source of pride to all who know her.
Sadly, Nora and her family have endured more than their share of heartache.
In 2023, Nora's younger sister, Renee, tragically lost her battle with cancer. The loss was devastating, yet the Rachko family—Nora, her mother Danielle, and her father Bill—continued to show resilience, strength, and hope in the face of unimaginable grief. Danielle has been a dedicated member of the McNichols Plaza PTA, always stepping up to support the students and staff of McNichols Plaza, even while managing her family’s own challenges.
Recently, heartbreak struck again. On March 31, 2025, the Rachko family was involved in a horrific car accident while traveling together. While Nora was rushed to Penn State Health Children's Hospital in Hershey, her parents were rushed to Hershey Medical Center. Nora and her father Bill were admitted to the ICU with severe, life-altering injuries. The road to recovery will be long, uncertain, and emotionally and financially overwhelming.
We are asking our community to rally around the Rachko family. They need our support—our prayers, our kindness, and, if you're able, financial assistance to help cover mounting medical expenses, rehabilitation, travel, and the many unforeseen costs that come with such a tragedy.
This is a family that has always given love and light to those around them. Now, they need that love returned. Please consider donating and sharing this campaign. Every contribution, no matter the amount, makes a difference.
