After this past weekend’s matches, our Quin Womxn and D3 men made the playoffs for the 2nd year in a row!

Like last year, the womxn’s team posted dominant scorelines all season. We knew they were headed to playoffs before this weekend.

The D3 men had posted some impressive wins, but with two tough losses to the Austin Blacks, the path wasn’t as smooth. The final match of the regular season was against the Austin Huns. A win for either team sends them to the playoffs and ends the other’s season.

After a back-and-forth game, with the Huns holding the lead for most of the second half, we got a literal last-second score to take the lead, the win, and punch a ticket to playoffs!

The men have an extra round of playoffs, and they will travel to San Antonio next weekend to decide who advances to the divisional playoffs.

After a tough year in 2021, the Quin womxn got relegated to D2. Last year, they proved that was a mistake. This year, we want to continue making a statement and earn the right to return to D1.

Cortney Kuehl stepped in as head coach this year. She and her coaching staff have helped take this team to the next level.

The team has been working hard on and off the field, recruiting heavily and providing more coaching support. The players are all in, and the depth chart is longer than a line at the DMV.

This is only the beginning!

Hopefully, after the men’s match next weekend, both teams will reunite in Houston for regionals, before heading to super-regionals and Nationals.

Getting the Quins back to playing this caliber of rugby has been challenging, but our work is paying off.

There’s a lot of rugby left to play this season. But, taking a team, especially two teams, deep into playoffs comes with costs.

Airfare, hotels, equipment, and more are instrumental to their continued success.
