Aloha, we are the Quinn family. We come to you at a time of great challenge. Life is often about timing, and let’s just say this chapter of life and its challenges definitely came with poor timing! While our spirits are filled to the brim, our resources… well, you get the idea or we wouldn’t be at this moment in time.
Here’s the unfortunate news, Beth (47) was recently diagnosed with breast cancer - humbug news for sure. With a complicated health history already, this diagnosis has changed our world forever. The bright news is that because she followed her intuition - it was found early and the initial prognosis is positive! But it does involve some complicated procedures.
Many of you may know Beth - some may not. Beth is a talented designer, cook, advocate, chauffeur, logistics coordinator, foodie, dog trainer, artist, writer, creator, movie fan and snuggle buddy. Although, her best qualities are being a rock star mom to a remarkable 10 (and soon to be 11) year old daughter while at the same time being an awesome wife to her husband for 20+ years (Terry). She does the hardest jobs in the world with grace, love, compassion and positive energy!
Remarkably, this is the second bullet Beth has dodged by trusting her instincts and advocating for herself. With the love and support of her family, friends and outstanding health care teams, she’s looking forward to healing and beginning a new chapter with new perspectives.
The goal in life is to grow - to recognize we have the tenacity and strength within one’s self needed to grapple with life’s challenges. Not only is it okay to ask for help when we need it but it’s imperative that we do so. This is what we teach to our children in the world today - and now we are trying to be the example and live by what we teach.
First, we humbly ask for your continued love, healing thoughts and emotional support above all. We deeply appreciate you during this trying time for our family. Feeling connected helps us heal.
In addition, we have been blessed with people desiring to help with financial support in one way or another which is so deeply appreciated as we are facing quite an impact on our family. With that said please do not feel obligated. We just felt this was an appropriate forum for those who wished to contribute monetarily. If can can, if no can no can (another favorite saying in Hawaii)!
The Financial Burden
As you can imagine, the cost of treatment is overwhelming. Between hospital visits, surgeries, treatments, medications, travel and other related expenses, the financial strain is significant. We’ve set up this crowdfunding campaign to help cover these costs and to ensure that Beth and family can focus on her health and recovery, rather than the financial burden.
How You Can Help
Our goal is to raise $75,000, which will help cover:
Medical Bills: Co-pays, prescriptions, and treatments that insurance doesn’t fully cover.
Transportation: Travel costs for appointments and treatments. Hawaii is great - until you need complicated medical treatments. Then it is off to the mainland.
Daily Living Expenses: Assistance with groceries and bills.
Loss of Income: Terry is taking FMLA in order to care for Beth during her significant recovery and this will come at great expense due to the loss of income during this time.
Every contribution matters - no matter how big or small
$50 can help pay for a day's worth of meals when traveling.
$100 can help offset medical expenses not covered under insurance.
$500 helps to defray travel and lodging expenses.
Join Us in Making a Difference
We are grateful for any support you can provide, whether it’s a donation or simply sharing this campaign with your network. Your kindness and generosity will make a world of difference for Beth and our family during this challenging time.
Thank You for Your Support
Thank you for taking the time to read this and your consideration. And if not in a position to donate, please pass along to your networks as we know there is so much love, light and positivity in the world but we have not yet had a chance to meet everyone. We are filled with blessings and your love and support fill our cups!
Cancer sucks - but our life does not. Regardless of the financial outcome, we know we will get through these rough seas together as a family and smoother sailing awaits down the line!
Please note - Any unused donations will be passed on to a cancer charity so that your blessings and generosity can continue and pay it forward to help others facing similar challenges.
Mahalo nui loa!
Thank you very much!
With love and gratitude - aloha,
Beth, Terry and Ellie Quinn
