Help the Porter Family Through Tough Times

Dear Friends, Family, and Wildcat Community,

My name is Katie, and I got to know the Porter family through Dawn who is my daughter’s teacher. Her heart and love for her students and her community know no bounds. Let’s give her and Tad the gift of breathing room and peace as they continue to heal as a family from a very challenging few years.

The Porter family, a loving and resilient group, is in the midst of an incredibly difficult chapter, and we are reaching out for support during this challenging season. As many of you know, Tad Porter, a devoted husband and father, underwent a life-saving liver transplant in August 2024. While this was a major step toward recovery, Tad’s journey has been far from easy. After his transplant, he was diagnosed with pulmonary hypertension, a serious condition that affects the heart and lungs and has added more complexity to his recovery process. This recent additional diagnosis requires many costly compound medications that must be administered by Dawn, who has become a part time caretaker in addition to her teaching work.

As Tad works hard to regain his health and navigate these unexpected medical hurdles, the financial strain has been mounting. Medical bills are starting to flood in, and with only Dawn’s income supporting the family right now, they are finding it increasingly difficult to keep up with everyday expenses, let alone the mounting costs of Tad’s treatment. Throughout the recovery process, Dawn’s ability to work was frequently interrupted, which has caused even further strain.

This is where we, their loving community, come in to rally around them. The Porter family is known for their kindness, generosity, and love for their community, and now they have graciously communicated that they will gratefully accept help. Every contribution, no matter how big or small, will make a world of difference as they work through these trying times. Your support will help Tad continue his treatments, give Dawn some peace of mind, and ensure their family can focus on what matters most—getting Tad healthy and keeping their spirits strong.
