Help the Poghosyan Family stay in Yerevan

Donation protected
The Poghosyan family is from the village of Togh in the Hadrut region of Artsakh. Aram and Lilit lived there with their three children - Angine (15), Valentina (13) and Avet (4). They lived happily in the house they built themselves, adjacent to their farm and surrounded by lush mountains.

Aram managed his own agriculture business, which he was planning on expanding by launching his own vodka company. Lilit was a teacher and taught embroidery and carpet weaving at their village's school. When the war broke out on September 27, their lives were turned upside down. Their house was burned down and they were forced to flee and leave everything behind.

While women, children and the elderly fled Artsakh, the men, including Aram, stayed behind to protect their land. During the war, his family found refuge in the village of Mughni, just over 20 km from Yerevan. Aram joined his family in Mughni in November, completely hopeless and despaired, having scarcely escaped with his own life. They lived in a small house with Aram’s parents and brother’s family- a total of 11 people. The municipality of Ashtarak and a group of volunteers were helping them cover the cost of essentials and utilities.

Now as IDPs, in hopes of starting over, Aram, Lilit and their three children left Mughni and moved into an apartment in Yerevan, where there is a better chance of finding employment. As Aram and Lilit look for work and their family settles into their new home, they have asked for help covering the first 6 months of rent ($367 CAD/month).

The organizer of the fundraiser, Sevan Boudakian, will be withdrawing the funds in Canada and transferring them to Tveen Titizian in Armenia. Tveen met the Poghosyan family when she was in Mughni, working on an article about the devastating repercussions of the war. She has been in constant communication with the family since and has helped them settle into Yerevan. Throughout the duration of this fundraiser, Tveen will be transferring the rent amount to the family on a monthly basis. Kindly note that all bank transfer fees will be paid for separately and not taken from these funds.

Please consider donating to support the Poghosyan family as they start their lives anew in Yerevan.
