On January 9th 2021, Samuel Petersen and his wife, Caitlin, announced to the world through social media that they were pregnant and were going to be welcoming their second child into this world. The photo was sweet and their first born daughter stood front and center holding up a tiny newborn onesie to help announce the expected arrival of her new sibling. This family had been so busy trying to juggle their busy schedules that the image of the announcement was last minute and unfiltered. It was perfect because it captured a real moment and showed how much love was shared between the members of this young, growing family. Samuel owns his own construction business so his work days are long and on top of that, they are building their own home so there is a lot to do. Despite that, Samuel always has a smile on his face and is always home in time to help put his little girl to bed.
On February 3rd 2021, Samuel Petersen was on the roof of his new home preparing for the roofers to arrive the the next day. He had reached the peak of his new home when he slipped and fell from the roof. He was somehow able to call his wife and brother, who found him lying in the snow. An ambulance was called and he was rushed to the hospital. After several painful tests, the doctors let him know that he had broken his collarbone and five ribs, fractured his pelvis in three places, and suffered a concussion and a partially collapsed lung. This was devastating news because the success of Samuel's small business as well as the finish work of his new home is dependent on him being physically capable. He was kept in the hospital for several days and then moved to a physical therapy residency. With the help of physical therapy, he will slowly learn to do basic things on his own like sit or walk with the support of a walker. It will be months before he can start to recover from this accident. After a few days at the residency they decided that once they think he can physically endure surgery, Samuel will need surgery on his broken collarbone. He is an incredible pain and the medical expenses are growing. In addition to that, he cannot see his little girl due to COVID restrictions. This accident has overwhelmed a young family that continues to try to see the positive in this situation. We are setting up this fundraiser to ask the community to come together and help support Samuel and his wife. It will be months before Samuel will be able to return to work and he will now have to pay for someone to finish his new home because he will be unable to do the work himself. This could not have come at the worst time for a family that had so many exciting things planned.
Please donate what you can to help them pay for some of Samuel's medical expenses and the labor to complete their new home. The bills are already starting to come in so they need both prayers and donations. Even if it is only a few dollars, every little bit helps. They have always been there to help so many and we hope we can raise enough to return the favor.
