Help the Perez Family Through Kamila's Cancer Battle
Donation protected
Lilian and Felipe Perez are the proud parents of four lovely children: Megan, who is 11, Bridly, age 7, Dylan, who is 4, and their youngest, Kamila, just 6 months old.
As residents of Brevard County, their two oldest children attend Trinity Lutheran School, and the family lives in Rockledge. Lilian balances caring for the children with managing a residential cleaning business, while Felipe works full time in the roofing business.
On December 18th, the Perez family's life took a dramatic turn when Kamila was diagnosed with Retinoblastoma, a rare childhood cancer that affects the retina, the light-sensitive layer at the back of the eye. Lilian noticed Kamila’s white pupil and quickly sought advice from their pediatrician, who promptly identified a problem and referred them to an eye specialist.
Kamila was sent to the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute in Miami, where it was confirmed that she had Retinoblastoma. She was then referred to Jackson - Holtz Children’s Hospital, also in Miami. Within just a few days, the family shifted from their regular focus on school, childcare, and work to the urgent task of saving their daughter’s eye and life.
Kamila received her first chemotherapy treatment on 12/21/24 just 3 days after her diagnosis and will continue with treatments monthly until advised otherwise by her doctors. Her next chemo treatment is scheduled for Jan. 22, 2025. The Perez family is making frequent trips to Miami to ensure Kamila receives the best possible care, and they hold onto hope since her cancer was caught early. However, the costs of time off work, travel, and medical expenses are starting to accumulate.
This wonderful family would greatly appreciate any financial support and prayers as they navigate this challenging time. The positive news is that nearly all children diagnosed early with this rare cancer can be cured, and 90% are expected to maintain normal vision in at least one eye after treatment- this is our prayer for Kamila.
We urge you to share this message as a reminder that if you ever notice a child with a white pupil, it’s crucial to seek immediate medical attention as it could be very serious. We also ask for prayers for Kamila and for strength for her family. If you feel compelled to help financially, all contributions will go directly to the Perez family to support them during this difficult journey.
