Help the people of Frankadua, Ghana.

My name is Kate Robinson. I have completed a Bachelor of Biomedical Science and am currently completing a postgraduate study in Reproductive Science. Recently, I was fortunate enough to visit the remote town of Frankadua, in Ghana, Africa.

I volunteered in a healthcare outreach program that involved malaria testing, wound care, sexual education, and women’s health. Whilst there, I was able to meet many students from different primary and secondary schools, as well as members of the local community.

The community does not have access to clean drinking water, basic school supplies, personal supplies, such as sanitary pads and sometimes food if their family is unable to afford to feed them. Malaria is rampant throughout the community, and we saw a 77% incidence in the tested population. There are very few medical supplies, and from what is available, the majority of it is expired.

Asempaneyeda Kindergarten and Primary School currently do not have access to clean drinking water. Rather, they collect rainwater from a rusted tin roof into a tank and they use communal cups to drink the water. My main aim of this GoFundMe is to raise funds for the engineering and construction of a borehole to be located at Asempaneyeda Kindergarten and Primary School. Not only will this facilitate clean drinking water for the school itself, but also for the surrounding community.

In addition, any excess funds will be used to assist in feeding the children, provide clean drinking water to the community, and gather medical and basic supplies. It would also be amazing to gather medical supplies for wound care, mosquito nets to aid in preventing malaria, and sustainable feminine hygiene products to provide to the local community.
