Help the Parzivand Family Rebuild After Fire

Donation protected
My name is Jenny, and I’m writing this on behalf of my dear cousins, the Parzivand family. Afsy, Farhad (affectionately known as Uncle Fred), and their two children, Daniel and Jackie, have always been the heart of our extended family. In 2006, the Parzivands moved from New Jersey to the Pacific Palisades, quickly becoming a beloved part of the community.

What started as a temporary rental quickly became the place they knew they wanted to call home forever. Daniel and Jackie both graduated from Pali High. In 2009, they decided to purchase the unit. It wasn’t just the home they loved but also the incredible sense of community they found there—a community they’ve been a part of for nearly 20 years.

The Parzivands regularly welcomed friends and relatives into their home. Over the years, it became a hub for love, family, and connection. But in the past few months, their lives have taken an unimaginable turn.

In October, Afsy traveled to New Jersey to clear out their storage unit, carefully sending all their most treasured belongings back to their home in California. Then, on January 5th, Daniel moved back to the Palisades after losing his job in Irvine, bringing all his belongings with him—most of which hadn’t even been unpacked.

At the same time, Farhad’s health took a serious turn for the worse. In December, he was hospitalized and underwent two major surgeries, with Afsy staying by his side every night. Though he was able to come home briefly last Sunday, complications arose, and he has since been readmitted to the hospital.

And then, the unimaginable happened.

On the day of the Pacific Palisades fire, the family was one of the last to evacuate. Their hope that the fire wouldn’t reach their home was dashed as they watched it approach. Afsy stood on the roof with their building manager, trying to do what they could by hosing down the roof of the building, but it became clear they had no choice but to leave.

They left with nothing but the clothes on their backs and Farhad’s medical devices to keep him stable. Their beautiful home, along with all their memories and possessions—everything they had worked so hard to build—was gone in an instant.

Now, the Parzivand family is facing the daunting task of rebuilding their lives.

This home wasn’t just a building—it was their life. It represented love, family, and the community that has supported them for nearly two decades. And while they’ve lost everything, they have not lost their hope or determination to rebuild.

I’m reaching out to ask for your help. Anything you can give—no matter how small—will go toward helping my cousins get back on their feet, restore what was lost, and return to the community they love so dearly.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, generosity, and support during this incredibly difficult time.
