On May 11, 2020, Leslie Parked died from Covid-19, leaving his wife and two young children behind. His son Chance was just 11 months, and his daughter Zuri was 8. Leslie was only 31, and his job as an ESP for the Osseo District 279 did not include a life insurance policy. (We found this out after death) Although we know GO Fund me is not a replacement for life insurance, we were not aware that Leslie did not have any life insurance. Leslie was the breadwinner of the family and always took care and responsibility for anyone that needed help. If you can find it in your heart to help Whitney and her family, we truly appreciate it. There is still no specific aid or covid relief for families that have been directly affected by Covid. Some widows and widowers are not only grieving the loss of their spouse, but the grief of losing their homes, assets and savings is growing greater and greater. For some, the pandemic is over, but for those one million lives lost and those directly affected, the nightmare is just beginning. Normal no longer exists, and on top of grief, PTSD and loneliness, financial burdens weigh down the family one brick at a time. Whitney is faced with back-to-back expenses that have started to drown her mentally and emotionally. Sadly, in addition to the loss of her husband, 9 months later, Whitney lost her mother to an aneurysm. Leslie helped Whitney care for her mother, and as you can imagine, two great losses in less than a year are absolutely jolting. Whitney is used to taking care of her family and friends but now needs help taking of herself and her children. Whitney is now left with the responsibility of trying to maintain a two-income lifestyle with one while grieving and lone parenting. No amount is too small; please give what you can, and if money is not possible, please send prayers and kind words. This journey is one that no one should have had to endure.
