Help the Parker family after their daughter’s life-saving surgery.

Shaylee was rushed to Oishei this past Friday when they noticed her inability to settle, critical heart rate, and respiration rate. While anticipating a diagnosis of the flu, the initial testing revealed that Shaylee had a Congenital Diaphragmatic Hernia. She was immediately rushed into surgery. Her stomach, spleen, colon, and intestines spontaneously spilled into her lung cavity, crushing her left lung and causing her heart to shift, also crushing her right lung. This is something that is typically found on an ultrasound in utero and corrected at birth, with many staff sharing that they have yet to see this in a child her age over their 20-30 year careers.

She has experienced some challenges post-op this week that have set back her progress, now with no discharge date in sight. She is projected to undergo additional testing, procedures, and medications that will prolong her stay in the hospital, along with many follow-ups with a number of specialists that have to watch her closely for years to come. She has a long road of recovery ahead of her that will require her mom to be home with her for an extended period of time.

To know Shaylee is to love her. She is so full of light, laughter, and a little bit of sass. Her parents are navigating something no parent should have to experience.

Any money raised will assist the family with medical bills and day-to-day expenses.

Please continue to lift Shaylee and her family in your prayers.
