UPDATE #1
We are overwhelmed once again by the generosity of our community and beyond. We have exceeded our goals and we want to let you know our rough plans for the funds.
We will clear all the vet bills for the horses at home that were injured during the attack
We will cover the vet bills for the horse at OVC and we keep the mare and the owners in our continued thoughts while she undergoes ongoing treatment.
We will install a security system at Eagle Wing this week and ensure a short term security fund for the farm to provide services as needed.
We are arranging a memorial gift for the owner of the horse who was killed.
We will arrange trauma counselling for the staff and clients who would like help and support in processing this horrific event. We will help Amanda with any lost revenue short term as a consequence of this tragedy.
We will talk with police to see if any funds could be earmarked for a reward in finding out who did this.
We will be meeting this week to determine how we can best distribute additional funds to assist with security systems at other barns.
Any suggestions are welcome, and we will continue to try to ensure transparency and best use of these funds. Our primary goal is to ensure that Amanda and her community feel the love and support from everyone, and feel safe at their happy place at the farm.

ORIGINAL POST
By now most of you have heard of the horrendous acts of violence that happened at Eagle Wing. 8 horses were stabbed in their paddocks, where they should be able to feel safe. One of them was killed. One is at OVC. and the remaining 6 needed or will need ongoing vet care. As members of the Silver community, Julienne Marr and I (Jen Sweet) want to spearhead help for Amanda and her barn family. We would like to raise funds to cover the vet bills incurred by those whose horses were injured. We would like any additional funds to contribute to a security system at Eagle Wing so that Amanda and her family, and her extended barn family, feel safe on their property. In discussion with Amanda, she would also like to ensure all communities feel safe and has suggested that any excess funds could help other barns. All of us run tight budgets and until the perpetrator is caught, we will all need to increase vigilance.
To reiterate. Primary goal is to cover all vet costs (approx 3k for the horses at home and approx 5k for the horse currently at OVC). Secondary goal is security at Eagle Wing (approx 2k). Final goal is a fund to help provide security at other barns. If you have connections please reach out to myself or Julienne or Amanda. We will keep updated on donations and where the funds are going on this gofundme. If we exceed amount needed and we reach our final goal, we will outline criteria for application as we move ahead. I know our hearts all ache for Amanda and her clients. Sending huge hugs to the owners of the deceased horse. We are all thinking of you. And to the rest of you at Eagle Wing, please know we support you and we want to help.
