Help My Sister Recover After a Life-Threatening Homebirth
Hi friends and family,
I’m reaching out on behalf of my sweet sister, who just gave birth to my beautiful niece, Kora, through a planned homebirth — something she had long dreamed of.
While the birth began peacefully, it turned into a life-threatening emergency. After days of early labor and hours of pushing, baby Kora was born at 8:36 a.m. with four cords wrapped around her neck. Thanks to her midwife’s quick action, Kora was safely delivered and cried right away — a true blessing!
But shortly after, my sister began hemorrhaging due to a retained placenta and large clots. She was rushed by ambulance to the hospital, losing a dangerous amount of blood along the way.
Doctors prepared for surgery or an emergency D&C, but by the grace of God and a skilled doctor, she was able to push the placenta out just in time.
She spent the night in the hospital recovering and is now home on strict bed rest for the next month, slowly healing while caring for her newborn.
Unfortunately, they’re now facing over $4,500 in unexpected medical and ambulance bills on top of the out-of-pocket cost for hiring their midwife.
If you’re able to support them in any way — through a donation or by sharing — it would mean the world to our family. Every donation will go directly toward medical expenses and help ease the burden as they focus on healing and bonding as a family of 6!
We’re beyond grateful my sister is still with us. God truly had his hand on her and this birth. Thank you for your prayers, love, and support during this difficult but miraculous time.
With love and gratitude,
