On December 14th, my wife lost feeling in her heel. Withing 24 hours her lower extremities had become numb, as such she was admitted to the Renown Regional Medical Center Neurology Floor. Tests have revealed lesions on her spinal cord and in her brain, they have also shown evidence of a rare variant of Guillain-Barre Syndrome. With the history of Multiple Sclerosis in her family this syndrome is further complicated leaving her in a state of unknown prognosis. At this time she is unable to walk or function without a walker or assistance. The loss of feeling has advanced to just under her shoulders leaving her with little ability to use her hands as well.
Unfortunately, all treatments up to this point have failed to improve her prognosis. As such a catheter has been placed in her neck to allow for a more advanced treatment called Plasmaphoresis. This process is extremely taxing on her body and well-being. At this time it is unknown when and or if LaNae will be capable of returning to work. Currently she has been in the hospital going on three weeks and may spend that amount or more still.
LaNae is away from all five of her children during this time as she is considered to be immune-compromised and contact with outside sources of contamination can cause unforeseen consequences.
During this time the debt being accrued via hospital procedures and tenure will be devastating to our family's well being in the long term.
In the short term LaNae will be unable to work and provide for the household or family until she has recovered fully.
We ask for monetary donations through this GoFundMe to help cover the immediate costs to our family, and help cover the long term hospital debt.
We as a family implore anyone who would be willing to assist us with anything at any point during this trying time to come forward and bless us with your care.
