Help the Nguyen Family Rebuild After Tornado From Milton

As the Nguyen family was preparing for Hurricane Milton, they were not prepared for a devastating tornado.

On Wednesday, October 9, at 5:10 pm, an EF-3 tornado with winds around 140 mph struck the Nguyen family’s neighborhood, severely damaging their parents' home. This house is incredibly special to the family—every detail was personally chosen by their parents when they had it built in 2000. Their parents worked everyday for years to make the house a home.

Sadly, over the years, securing homeowners' insurance became impossible for their parents. Their previous insurer dropped them due to the roof’s age, and other companies either wouldn’t offer coverage or the premiums were far too expensive to manage.

The tornado caused devastating damage, ripping off tiles and exposing the roof, shattering windows, and tearing down the screened patio and fence. Both of their cars were also severely damaged. But perhaps the most heartbreaking loss was the yard—20 years of fruit trees their parents had lovingly planted and cared for, which were not only their pride but also part of their livelihood, were completely destroyed. Unfortunately, due to the heavy damages, the parents are still without power. The estimated damages are over $100,000.

As you can imagine, this has taken an immense toll on them emotionally and financially. If you’ve ever met the mom and dad, you know they are some of the kindest, most selfless people around. They always put others first, making sure their family and friends are taken care of before even thinking about themselves. They’ve never asked for anything and have always given without expecting anything in return. I know they would never ask for donations, but it’s the least we can do during this overwhelming time.

Now, they need our help. This disaster has turned their world upside down, and they’re struggling with the overwhelming loss of everything they’ve worked so hard for.
