Help the Neace Family: Cody, Lyndsey & baby Evie

I’m adding an edit now that Baby Evie has arrived. Due to a placenta abruption, Evie made her appearance into the world on April 21, 2024 at 2:06 a.m. at 27 weeks gestation. She weighed 1 lb, 14 Oz and was 13 inches long. It was a very scary time and as the staff was rushing to prepare Lyndsey for a C-section, Evie ended up coming on her own. She was born in her amniotic sac and because of the abruption, her HR had decelerated so she had to immediately be resuscitated, but Thank God, they were able to get her heart beating again but I know that was a very intense moment for everyone. But right after, she was looking around and breathing on her own which was a good sign! They did eventually put her on CPAP because she’s so tiny they didn’t want her little body to wear out. She was immediately taken into the NICU. They were worried that Lyndsey would end up needing a blood transfusion because she lost so much blood during the abruption, but again, Thank God, that wasn’t needed! Fast forward a bit…Evie is going really great considering her gestational age and how emergent things were as she was born, but because she did come so early, she will be in the hospital for anywhere from approximately 9-12 weeks depending on how she’s doing, how she responds to daily needs & there’s no set backs. So far, she has proven herself to be a very strong, determined, and sassy girl so we pray this continues as she grows and develops. Cody and Lyndsey will be staying in Lexington while Evie is in the hospital, Cody will be working while Lyndsey stays at the hospital through the day. They are 16th in line for the Ronald McDonald’s house, so it could be a while before they can get in there, so they’ve rented a hotel room for a couple weeks hoping to hear something about RMH soon. They will have travel expenses, gas, necessities, hotel expenses, etc all while still trying to maintain their home here in Pike Co. so any and all donations will go directly to them so they can spend as much time as possible being close to Evie while she is in rhe NICU. Thank you all for any and all support, encouragement and prayers, it means more to the family than you could possibly know!

Hi, my name is Deena Neace. I’m starting this fundraiser for our oldest son Cody Neace, daughter-in-law Lyndsey Neace & our awaiting granddaughter Evie Neace. Cody and Lyndsey are both very hard workers and do everything they can to provide for their family. There’s so much I could say about everything that’s been thrown at them lately and unexpectedly, but I’m trying to keep this as short as possible but still explain their situation. Lyndsey is pregnant right now and was originally given the due date of July 21, 2023. With 2 boys already, we were all shocked to find out from the sneak peak they were having a GIRL this time! (If you know anything about the Neace family, then you know it’s a family full of boys…getting a girl is rare but we are so excited!) everything was going smoothly until she went for her 20 week ultrasound. Thankfully technician was very thorough and was able to spot an issue with Lyndsey’s cervix. She went to get the Dr and after a quick exam, she was told she thinning and needed to be sent to Lexington (Baptist Hospital) ASAP for an emergency procedure called a cerclage because her cervix was thinning & even though the procedure is risky with a chance of them breaking her water during the surgery, if she didn’t have it she most definitely would’ve went on into labor soon & the outcome most likely wouldn’t have been favorable for baby Evie. So she had the procedure done & they kept her in the hospital for a couple of days there at Baptist to make sure there were no issues. She was finally discharged to come home but she was told to be on bed rest, no lifting, was put off work and to basically be a couch potato. The short term goal was to keep baby Evie in until the 28th week (of course longer would be icing on the cake!) but at 28 weeks gestation, the chances of survival increases with hopefully minimal health issues. During her time off at that time, Lyndsey used up any & all sick and vacation time she had so that she could still receive a paycheck while she was put off work. Lyndsey had a couple check ups since that procedure was done, everything was going good, the cerclage was holding & it actually looked better than it did when they first put it in. She made it to the 25 week mark & we were just counting down the days until she was able to reach that first small goal of getting her to 28 weeks…but then the day before the 26th week, Lyndsey started bleeding. Baptist told them to go to the nearest hospital, they went to PMC & she was checked & put on the monitor. Her cerclage still looked good, she wasn’t having any pain, & as far as they could tell she wasn’t having any contractions, but that’s hard to really pick up when you’re less than 28 weeks. Fast forward a couple days later & they had to fly Lyndsey to UK hospital in Lexington where they were already setting up and getting prepared in case they had to do an emergency C-section. (Thank God that didn’t have to happen though) Her cerclage was still holding good, but there were some blood clots around it plus they were also able to see that she had an abruption started. That was not what we were wanting to hear! And abruption is very dangerous & there’s no way to stop it completely once it starts. They put Lyndsey on different meds, bed rest, monitoring her, and anything & everything they can do to hopefully slow down the progression of the abruption. So far things are (semi)stable, things can change from minute to minute, but we are praying that Evie will NOT make her appearance until it’s safe for her too. Regardless of when that day will be, Lyndsey will not be coming home until after the baby is born. She needs to stay there either in the hospital or if she remains stable enough, she might even be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house that’s close by the hospital (if there’s room for her at that time, if not, she will have to stay in a hotel close by) but it’s not safe at all for her to leave Lexington right now. If the baby comes early, then that’s will most likely mean a long hospital stay for baby Evie, but even if she hangs in there a while, it’s still a long stay for Lyndsey and Cody. With Lyndsey still being out of work, Cody having to travel back and forth for things, plus try to maintain things at their house, buy food, personal items, etc. the expenses of it all is a huge struggle right now. Not to mention that they don’t have any insurance, so we can’t even imagine what the medical bills will be like, however, right now all they can focus on is trying to do everything they can to keep baby Evie safe, healthy and strong! It breaks my heart that we’re not able to help them more, I hate that they have so much thrown at them right now, but there’s been an amazing outreach of love, concern and prayers sent up for them & it’s all greatly appreciated! But I set up this go fund me to hopefully help take off some of the strain they face right now financially. I’ve had several people ask how they can help them and aside from praying for them, this was the best way I knew how to help them. Any and all funds received will go directly to Cody and Lyndsey so they can use it for travel expenses, food, bills, medical expenses, etc. in order to help them get through this current situation. As far as the goal amount that was set, I didn’t have any idea of the financial burdens they will face, so I just put in a random amount, but anything will help. Thank you all! We love this little baby so much already & we ask that everyone will continue to pray for them!
