Please Help Support Ellie Mulligan and Her Family

We are asking for help for the Mulligan family during an incredibly difficult time.

For those who don't know; Richie is a childhood cancer survivor who recently suffered a grand mal seizure, which led to the discovery of an aggressively growing brain tumor. He underwent emergency brain surgery to remove the tumor. We are incredibly grateful to share that the tumor was not cancerous, but Richie now faces a long and challenging road ahead. He may be spending the next several months in rehabilitation, relearning how to walk and regain his strength on both the left and right sides of his body.

Ellie has missed a significant amount of work to care for her husband and manage everything at home. Unfortunately, because she has been at her new teaching position for less than one year, she does not qualify for FMLA, leaving her without job-protected leave or income support. She will continue to miss work for Richie’s many doctors’ appointments and throughout his recovery.

They have a 9-year-old at home, Lilly, their youngest child, who still needs daily care and stability during this time. Their son Spencer is currently deployed with the military, and their oldest daughter, Felishia, lives in California. Their other daughter, Marissa, has a child of her own and does not live at home, making Ellie the primary caregiver while juggling everything else. MaryJane, Richie's mom is with Richie every day, all day, while Ellie has gone back to work.

Ellie and the Mulligans are an integral part of the North Haven community and have always been there to support others in times of need. They are the kind of people who show up, help without being asked, and give back whenever they can. Now, they find themselves in a position where they need that same kindness returned.

The financial strain has become overwhelming. Some medical bills are not covered by insurance, and everyday expenses continue — including their mortgage and household bills — all while their income has been significantly reduced.
