Meet Cindy

Let me introduce you to my wife Cindy.  She’s 51 years young, a loving mother to 5 wonderful kids, and a hardworking field administrator for one of the nation’s top 10 construction companies.  She’s also a belly dancer, sword fighter, fire spinner, notary public, professional event planner, certified etiquette instructor, scrap-booker… the list just keeps going.  As you can tell, she’s a very high-energy person—always moving, and quick to help (and volunteer me to help) anyone around her.  But now, we find ourselves in need of help.

The Situation

My family and I are members of a performance group.  While doing a show last year, my wife broke her leg on stage during a performance.

We were told that our health care would cover the expenses 100%, so we did not filed a claim with the performance group’s insurance.

On the return trip from that show, my wife slipped on the wet floor fell again while we were getting a flat tire repaired in Wal-Mart, and was  brought to the hospital by ambulance.

Again, we were told it was 100% covered by our health insurance.

More than six months after the deadline to submit other insurance claims had passed, we were informed that our insurance had not covered any of it, and the bills had been sent to a collection agency.  As the insurance companies would only pay the original providers, it was now not possible to use other insurance to cover the bill.

The accident and fall happened out of state more than 1000 miles away.  To contest these denials in court would involve travel and spending time there we can’t afford, in addition to the legal fees.

Our Goal

The medical bills are $5,000 and there are another $4,000 of associated expenses.

We were struggling to make ends meet before these bills were unexpectedly dropped on us on Christmas Eve.

Without help we will lose everything.

I realize that most of you do not know my wife, and how caring she is.  She will work herself to the point of exhaustion to help others—even strangers—and then feel bad because she can’t do more.  She gives so much of herself to others, and I’m praying that maybe others are willing and able to return the favor.

Times are tough for everyone, so we know that many people aren’t in a position to help.  If that’s you—than thank you for reading this far, and we hope your situation improves.  But please consider sharing her story—perhaps one of your friends can spare a few dollars, or one of their friends.  Every little bit helps, and we truly need and appreciate all the help we can get.

And maybe someone out there can tell us who we annoyed, and how we can get them to remove this curse they placed on us…
