Help the Morales Family Find a New Home

Hi, my name is Kristine Morales and I am fundraising on behalf of myself and my family. Hurricane Ida ravaged our community in The Bronx, NY and unfortunately, decimated our basement apartment. Due to the torrential downpour on Wednesday, September 1, we had to evacuate our home in the middle of the night. Within minutes, 5 inches of water came into our home from the front door. We were in bed getting ready for sleep when we heard the sudden gush storm in. I feel that if we hadn’t noticed at first, our middle child would have drowned as the water was reaching his bed where he lay sleeping. As we gathered a few of our things for ourselves and children, water also began to leak in from the side the house as well. Thankfully, had a dry place to stay for the night but are in need of a more permanent stay. Upon returning, there is $1000s of dollars in damage to our belongings including clothing, shoes, appliances, toys and numerous other things. It’s very disheartening to go through this as we have three small children who are starting school in less than two weeks. We are looking for support so we can find a temporary place to stay as we navigate the next steps for our family. This is an extremely difficult situation as we have two special needs children and all that they know is no longer safe to live in. We truly appreciate any help from the bottom of our hearts.
