Help the Moores Move to DC

Hi, all! Jared, here. The Moore family has been called to Washington DC to take the next step of faithfulness in ministry. The last few years have been a whirlwind of church planting, helping run an ice cream shop, and working with foster children and underserved youth in Hannibal. We loved what God was doing in us as a family and through us as a new community of Christ-followers. But with the challenges and heartaches of the last year, Katrina and I began having conversations about what is truly important to us as a family and how we want the next half of our lives to look.

And so we made a few tough—but liberating—decisions.

The first thing we decided is that, yes, we really enjoyed being married to one another (HA!) and we deeply loved our family.

The second thing was that we re-affirmed that God has called me to full-time pastoral ministry. We began dreaming of what that could look like in the future and we realized there needed to be a shift.

And that shift is what I want to invite you into.

We love the Jesus-centeredness of our Evangelical roots. We love the ways of intimately experiencing the presence of Jesus in our Charismatic roots. And we love the way that we are formed through our Liturgical and Sacramental practices. We want to embrace all three and pastor a congregation wholeheartedly from this unique vantage point.

As we prayed and conversed through this, we decided that attending seminary for my masters degree—something I had held off at arms distance for nearly 20 years—was the right next step. But we had (secret) conditions. We didn’t want to incur debt in order to achieve my Masters of Divinity.

So I applied to a few schools and low and behold we were accepted at Virginia Theological Seminary in Alexandria, VA, just south of Washington DC. And the best of things happened! I was accepted with a full-ride scholarship with free housing! I couldn’t have imagined this happening any better.

We emphatically said “yes” to this new adventure!

So here’s where we need your help. We’re needing to rent a truck to move our family to Alexandria, get settled, buy missing furniture, purchase school books, student supplies, vestments, technology…all that things that we haven’t had to think about since my undergrad 20 years ago.

So we’re asking for help. Would you pray about assisting us in the next step in our ministry? Would you join us in this leap of faith?
