Help the Monjes Recover from the Rockville Flood
Dearest Family, Friends, and Colleagues,
The Monje Family has suffered a sudden tragic loss to their home due to the catastrophic flood that occurred in Rockville early Wednesday morning. As has been reported in the local news, at around 3:00 AM, remnants of Hurricane Ida caused severe floodwaters that rapidly submerged their apartment to neck-level within minutes. Thankfully, Thomas, Mercedes, and their 6-month old daughter Alejandra were able to escape safely without serious harm. However, they could barely salvage anything in the little time it took for their apartment to fill with water and sewage.
As many of you know, Thomas and Mercedes are extremely loving and joyful people, who work exceptionally hard for everything they have, and never hesitate to help a friend in need. I don’t think you even need a reminder of how precious Alejandra is.
Many kind and generous hearts have reached out to ask how they can help, so we created this page to help them purchase clothing, baby supplies, and offset their major restart costs. Thank you dearly for showing their family that they are not alone in this heartbreak, as they seek to recover from this calamity.

La Familia Monje ha sufrido una pérdida grande ya que han sido víctimas del terrible inundación que pasó por Rockville, MD durante la madrugada el Miércoles pasado. Como fue reportado en las noticias locales, a las 3 de la mañana, los restos del huracán Ida causaron una inundación severa que rápidamente los dejó bajo agua de altos niveles. Por la gracia de Dios, Thomas, Mercedes y su bebe de seis meses, Alejandra, se escaparon a tiempo sin novedad. Desafortunadamente, no les quedó suficiente tiempo para salvar sus posesiones que rápido se hundieron en el agua.
Como muchos de ustedes ya saben, Thomas y Mercedes han sido personas muy trabajadoras, amorosas y nunca les ha pesado ayudar a los que necesitan. Y seguro no les tengo que recordar de la belleza y dulzura de Alejandra.
Muchas personas de buena bondad se han comunicado con nosotros para preguntar cómo les pudieran ayudar en estos tiempos difíciles, así que hemos creado esta página para recaudar fondos.
